Dr. Jennifer Buchwald

Dr. Buchwald is a clinical psychologist and has extensive experience working with adolescents, college students, and adults experiencing a variety of issues related to anxiety, stress, and depression. She specializes in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based, goal-focused therapy which helps people understand how their thinking patterns affect their feelings and behaviors. Her patients learn to modify their thoughts so that their perceptions of themselves and situations in their lives are more accurate and helpful. Dr. Buchwald also teaches techniques and strategies to treat specific symptoms of anxiety and depression. She develops individualized treatment plans tailored to each person’s symptoms and therapy goals.

Dr. Buchwald is an expert in the treatment of depression, panic attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), worry, social anxiety, separation anxiety, specific phobias and fears (including emetophobia), insomnia, body-focused repetitive behaviors, and issues related to grief and loss. She also helps people improve their relationships by teaching effective communication, social skills, and strategies for connecting with others and maintaining relationships.

Dr. Buchwald’s practice is telehealth. She uses a secure, encrypted videoconference platform to deliver services. She is licensed in New York and New Jersey and can see patients located in both of these states.

Dr. Buchwald does not accept or participate in any insurance programs. Patients pay for services directly and are provided with a receipt at every appointment that they can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. The receipt includes information requested by most insurance companies. Both the initial session and therapy sessions are 45 minutes long.
